Jaya - a short story

Moumita De Das

Jaya at 8.10 am Bongaon Local; A short clip of her voice by the author

With the help of an elaborate and comprehensive presentation, Dr. Roy broke down the nuances of leadership in today’s times and focussed on every fundamental dimension of the same. He cited examples of some key figures who have been considered the epitomes of leadership from both the distant past and the contemporary era including Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Virat Kohli, to name a few. He also explained the distinctions between the various types of leadership and highlighted the necessity of understanding the distinctions between each of them. Dr. Roy also laid special emphasis on the role of accountability which is one of the most vital aspects of becoming a real leader. He stressed on developing flexibility, humility, and honesty to be able to surrender yourself and admit your mistakes whenever necessary, and take accountability for your actions to your team. ASCOPE pays tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary

ASCOPE celebrates Rabindra  Jayanti

Moumita De Das, Editor, ASCOPE

Rabindranath Tagore 7 May 1861 – 7 August 1941 was a British Indian polymath who worked as a poet, writer, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter of the Bengal Renaissance. He reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

He was the author of the "profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful" poetry of Gitanjali. In 1913, Tagore became the first non-European to win a Nobel Prize in any category, and also the first lyricist to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Tagore's poetic songs were viewed as spiritual and mercurial; where his elegant prose and magical poetry were widely popular in the Indian subcontinent. He was a fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society. Referred to as "the Bard of Bengal", Tagore was known by the sobriquets Gurudeb, Kobiguru, and Biswokobi.

As an exponent of the Bengal Renaissance, he advanced a vast canon that comprised paintings, sketches and doodles, hundreds of texts, and some two thousand songs; his legacy also endures in his founding of Visva-Bharati University.
